BRIAN SOUTER
Brian lost his nine-year battle with cancer on January 8, 2026.
He is sadly missed by Ollie, (Olga) his wife of 58 years; his sister Barbara Sallows (Winnipeg); and his niece Shannon, (Montreal); also Ollie’s family and many friends locally and across Canada.
He was predeceased by his parents, Connie and George; his brother Bruce; his sister-in-law Joyce; and his brother-in-law Ken.
With his baptism as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on May 18, 1957, Brian began a life-long spiritual career that was challenging, interesting and rewarding.
Cremation has taken place, and at his request there will be no formal service. Interment will take place at the Pine Ridge Cemetery.

Dearest Ollie, We were deeply saddened to hear of Brian’s death. We have the fondest memories of the time shared with you and Brian in the same congregation in Quebec City….we looked up to you as a couple…an example for us to follow….to always work together as a team. Michel considered Brian as his mentor and friend. He admired and learned from him, making him a better Christian husband, brother and elder. Brian was a beloved brother and elder. We will always remember him for his illustrations…many we still recall to this day. Brian loved kites and brought one back for our daughter from his trip to Scotland and England and we have fond memories of our afternoons spent together flying kites on the Plains of Abraham . And that kite brought pleasure to many young ones for years afterwards. Brian and Ollie were our first choice for our daughter’s godparents. And the last time we saw them was at her wedding in Saskatoon 25 years ago. Brian was respected for his safety consciousness…one instance stands out in our memory… when before a circuit assembly he spent hours meticulously checking every coffeee maker for electrical shorts, a mark of true love for his brothers. It was always a joy to listen to Brian talk about his experiences in the ministry, especially the stories he had from the challenging but fond memorable years serving In Quebec. He was also a kid at heart, talked about the time he, Ollie and a few others helped him build an igloo in the back yard of their place in Quebec, with great success. During a weekend Kingdom Hall build in Altona, Brian brought with him the “stunt kite” and had the patience of letting others attempt to fly the kite with great joy. I use the term of a colleague of Mr Souter in a loose sense and with much respect. He was a member of the hiring panel which interviewed me for a temporary job with the federal government. I recall his nature that day as very kind and understanding. Even today I remain grateful for his calming nature and his input that saw me stay with that temporary job for 11 years.
